Published Papers That Used SuperLab
One's name tends to be processed differently than other word information. This study was conducted to determine if one's own name can influence color naming in modified Stroop task. Thirty-three General Psychology students participants in the study. Participants were instructed to name the color print of different names using key presses. There were two name conditions (own and other). Response times for the own name condition were significantly faster than the other names condition; however, there was a significant practice effect indicating that the difference between the own and other names conditions reduces over trials. This finding suggests that attentional resources required for processing one's own name are minimal allowing more attentional resources for processing the color information.
